Journal Exercise: Counting Your BlessingsBy: Debora Orrick It's time to look ahead at what you want to do and where you want to go in your new life without cigarettes. The good aspect of quitting is that you have more time on your hands (literally!) to do more things than acquiring, opening, lighting, consuming, disposing of and cleaning up cigarettes. This is when you must begin to articulate your vision quest, to set your goals for the future, to set your sights on a new chapter in your life's adventure. Remember to include "The Pleasure Principle" as you develop your goals. Create a vision that excites you and motivates you to work toward its realization. Create a vision that will call to your heart and challenge your mind. Create a vision of fun and fulfillment! If you can divide your journal into separate topics, you may want to make a special section for this exercise. It is one that you can do every day. Think of at least five blessings that you have in your life and list them each day in your journal. Even if you repeat some of your blessings, it is important to list and appreciate them for that day. This exercise has wonderful side effects such as helping to improve your appreciation and awareness of the good things in your life.
